TV & Movie Access

It is a pleasure to share with you our passion for using technology to enhance access to TV and Movies to everybody regardless of sensory abilities or limitations. Thanks to the resources received from the U.S. Department of Education- Office of Special Education-OSEP for the project, “Enhanced Access to Video for Students with Sensory Disabilities through Emerging Technology,” TV Access H327C210001, we are using technology to produce and deliver high quality audio descriptions and captions of selected educational TV programming and films to students with sensory disabilities.

Collaboration

EnhAcceSS:

  • Is your content suitable to be use in a K-12 classroom setting ?
  • Are you exempt of the FCC regulations regarding closed captions and audio description?
  • Is your content now, or plan to be widely available in the US ?
  • Have you the desire of reaching new audiences ?
  • Are you interested in making this world an accessible one ?

We invite selected producers of TV/Films to review the general criteria for participating in our project.

Our Advisory Committee evaluates in detail the applicant content based on our Guidelines to Evaluate a TV Series.

These guidelines have been developed for Dicapta’s advisory committee based on the “National Assessment of Educational Progress” (NAEP or the Nation’s report Card) which periodically tests mathematics, reading, science, writing, the arts, civics, economics, geography, and U.S. history.

The content selected to be part of the program must promote critical thinking, reinforce concepts of math or science, touch upon elements of social studies, promote literacy, social development, or promote additional life skills or vocational activities.

Dissemination & Distribution

We partner with The TV/Film industry leaders, consumer organizations, educational service providers, researchers, and accessibility experts to make sure that the accessible content produced under EnhAcceSS reaches the beneficiaries.

Dissemination activities include training workshops, TV campaigns promoting accessible content, awareness activities to educate the TV/Film industry on the needs of people with sensory disabilities, and participation in conferences, podcasts, newsletters of per organizations, and educational events on the field.

Distribution of Accessibility Assets

CC and AD created under EnhAcceSS are delivered in any and all of the platforms where our partners are presenting their content.

When approved by our content partner:

    • The accessible content would be available at the The Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP)
