Dr. María Victoria Díaz appointed once again to FCC Disability Advisory Committee

The FCC has announced the appointment of members for the fifth two-year term of the Commission’s Disability Advisory Committee (DAC), and our very own Dr. María Victoria Díaz is once again part of this group. This is the fourth time that Dr. Diaz has been chosen to be part of the DAC. Judy Mathews, a member of our advisory committee, was also selected to be her Alternate.

The FCC Chairwoman selected 36 members and 5 ex-officio members to be a part of the DAC, which consists of a diverse mix of organizations representing individuals with disabilities, communications, and video programming industries, the public safety industry, trade associations, researchers, and other stakeholders.

The committee provides advice and recommendation to the FCC in numerous disability matters specified by the Commission itself. According to the official website of the FCC, the DAC “provides a means for stakeholders with interests in accessibility issues to exchange ideas, facilitates the participation of consumers with disabilities in proceedings before the Commission, and assists the Commission in educating the greater disability community and covered entities on disability-related matters. The DAC keeps the Commission apprised of current and evolving communications issues for persons with disabilities.”

In a group that includes tech giants like Apple and Amazon, we hope that Dicapta can bring our unique experience with assistive technology to the table.
