Why Choose Dicapta ?

I use video description whenever possible, and I am so grateful for it. It allows me to see through someone else's eyes what is happening on the screen.

Dr. María Victoria Díaz was nominated for the Mi Univisionario award.

At Dicapta, we proudly announce that our founder and leader, Dr. María Victoria Díaz, was nominated for the Mi Univisionario award.

Univisionarios is an annual Univisión Noticias contest that celebrates America's most influential Hispanics and how their contributions have advanced the community and the country. The nominees, which include scientists, business people, educators, artists, and advocates, share their dedication to the Hispanic community and their social commitment. This is the first edition of the award and includes six categories: My Univisionario, Teachers, Pioneers, Entrepreneurs, Innovators, and Icons.

Maria Victoria was nominated in the "My Univisionario" category. Unlike other categories, the community proposed the nominees in this category, and an independent committee selected the finalists. You can visit the page with the nomination and the page to vote.

The public will vote to choose the winner from among the 10 finalists, with the winner earning a $10,000 donation to the foundation they wish to support. If Maria Victoria were the winner, this donation would be used by the Dicapta Foundation to make three inclusive movie screenings. On those screenings, audiences who prefer to use English or Spanish, need audio description or CC, or prefer to use their braille keyboard, can enjoy the projections together by using the All4Access technology. The three functions will be scheduled in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.

This nomination is a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the needs of the community with sensory disabilities and the unique challenges that Hispanics with sensory disabilities face. It is also special recognition for Dr. María Victoria, who has tirelessly dedicated herself to promoting and expanding audiovisual accessibility throughout her career.
